Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France.
This set of 3 casein buttons, with a mock horn appearance that beautifully mimics the natural variations of real horn, each measuring 33mm in diameter. The buttons have a sturdy, thick profile, making them ideal for use on heavy garments such as coats, jackets, or cardigans. The color of the buttons is a deep, dark charcoal with subtle hints of natural brown, polished finish. This creates a striking mock horn effect, with variations that resemble authentic horn textures. The reverse side showcases a texture due to age, adding a rustic appeal, perfect for outerwear or statement fashion pieces. These buttons are a great choice for vintage-style projects or crafting unique accessories.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
