Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France.
Set of 2 large casein buttons, 34 mm in diameter, featuring a marbled color that appears somewhere between dark brown and black, with lighter gray and white streaks creating a natural stone-like effect, giving them an organic, natural look. These four-hole mock horn buttons have a smooth finish and a slightly raised rim, making them ideal for jackets, coats, or other substantial garments.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
