Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France.
This set of 10 buttons, measuring 23mm, features a marbled pattern, blending soft light cream with muted beige tones. Each button has a flat, smooth finish and a classic two-hole construction and they are made from casein, a durable plastic derived from milk protein, popular in mid-century fashion. Making them perfect for various sewing projects. Though they come from new old stock and have never been used, these buttons still carry a slight vintage charm that adds character to any garment. Ideal for those looking to add subtle, neutral touches to their creations.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
