Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France.
This set of 11 vintage forest green buttons is crafted from durable casein, featuring a smooth grainy texture on the front and a glossy finish on the back. Each button measures 20 mm in diameter and has a classic four-hole design, making them both practical and stylish for various sewing projects. The consistent texture and deep colour lend a subtle touch, perfect for garments or accessories that call for a vintage appeal.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
