Introducing my vintage button collection – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, likely from France or Belgium in the 1950s.
This set of 10 off-white casein buttons measures 25 mm in diameter. Each button features a recessed center with a wide rim that highlights the depth and layered effect of the design. These retro buttons have a classic round shape with a four-hole design, and some show a very light patina due to age, enhancing their vintage character and adding to their authenticity.
The durable casein material and elegant design make these vintage buttons suitable for a variety of projects, from garment restoration to adding a distinct vintage to modern pieces. Ideal for coats, cardigans, or accessories.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it?s a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
