Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France or Belgium.
Set of 10 cream casein buttons, each 22mm in diameter, featuring a unique carved texture on the top surface that adds depth and character, adding a touch of dimensionality. Designed with a two-hole format, these buttons are versatile for various sewing projects, from garments to accessories, adding a touch of style with a subtle, textured detail. Some of the buttons, show some decolorations marks, due to age.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
