Antique handmade lace border, probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century.

An unusual piece combining several lace techniques, including corded tape lace, openwork sections and embroidered fabric appliqué.

The design features repeating floral medallions with raised embroidery, surrounded by interlacing patterns, fine connecting stitches and a decorative scalloped edge.

Originally made as a border for a larger textile, this piece could be used for altar linens, curtains, textile restoration or other sewing projects.
