Antique handmade Renaissance-style tape lace border, possibly Battenberg lace, featuring a repeating floral design with large three-petal flowers, curling stems, leaves and small circular motifs.

The lace is made with shaped woven tapes, joined by handworked connecting threads and a variety of needleworked fillings. The raised embroidered rings, openwork details and scalloped floral edge give the piece a particularly interesting structure.

Likely originally part of an antique alb or another religious garment, with a plain fabric strip sewn along the upper edge for attachment.

Suitable for ecclesiastical textile restoration, clothing, curtains and other textile projects.
