Antique Handmade Embroidered Net Lace Altar Border – 300 × 30 cm

A long piece of antique handmade embroidered net lace, with a very fine, lightweight mesh and a repeating geometric pattern.

The design features small eight-pointed motifs arranged above a zigzag border. Although the pattern does not contain explicitly religious symbols, this type of lace was also used for church textiles and altar decorations.

The embroidery is worked in a slightly heavier white thread, creating a clear contrast against the delicate net. Along the upper section is a narrow decorative insertion with small looped details, finished with a plain fabric heading.

The lace is soft, light and almost transparent, making it suitable for restoring antique church textiles, altar linens or other historical textile projects.

Conditions:

Very good antique condition. The lace is well preserved, with a few loose threads visible at one end. Please examine the photographs for details.

Care Instructions:

- If washing at home: Hand wash separately in cold or lukewarm water with a mild soap.

- Avoid: Bleach, strong detergents, wringing, or tumble drying — these damage linen fibers and lace.

- Drying: Lay flat on a towel or line dry in the shade (avoid direct sun, which weakens fibers).

- Ironing: Use medium heat while the fabric is still slightly damp, with a pressing cloth if needed to protect the lace.
