This antique Belgian curtain is made from Swiss pure linen with a fine, transparent weave that allows light to filter through. The panel measures 150 cm wide × 220 cm long. The vertical edges are finished with a thin lace trim, and the top is reinforced with a small hemp band for durability.
The decoration includes a 30 cm Bruges-style bobbin lace border at the bottom and a 7 cm lace insertion above it. The lace motifs feature floral and scroll designs joined by bars and picots. Based on its regular structure, the lace is most likely machine-made guipure, typical of early 20th-century Belgian production.
This antique linen panel is authentic and versatile. It can be used as a window curtain, room divider, or decorative textile, and is also valued by collectors, interior designers, and textile artists for creative reuse.
All curtains in this collection are antique and authentic, manufactured in Belgium with Swiss linen and Bruges lace. Each piece varies in size and lace design, but all share the same high quality. This panel is in very good condition, selected for its durability and decorative appeal.
Specifications:
Conditions: Antique, in excellent condition, the linen and the lace are intact, with a small group of faint stains in one area, likely from antique machine oils (shown in the last picture). Overall well preserved for its age.
Care Instructions:
- Preferred: Dry clean, to protect the lace and stitching.
- If washing at home: Hand wash separately in cold or lukewarm water with a mild soap.
- Avoid: Bleach, strong detergents, wringing, or tumble drying — these damage linen fibers and lace.
- Drying: Lay flat on a towel or line dry in the shade (avoid direct sun, which weakens fibers).
- Ironing: Use medium heat while the fabric is still slightly damp, with a pressing cloth if needed to protect the lace.
