Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France or Belgium.
Set of 10 vintage galalith buttons, 22mm, with a star or cross pattern formed by intersecting cutouts in the center. The design adds a unique touch through its simple, clean shape, balancing the smooth surface with the recessed star. These buttons are ideal for adding subtle texture to sewing projects, while maintaining a minimalistic style. The color is a soft ivory or off-white, lending a neutral tone that can blend easily with various fabrics and styles.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
