Antique handmade knotted net lace with needleworked embroidery, a religious lace border featuring a repeating pattern of crosses and large geometric medallions.

Worked on an open knotted net ground, the design combines needleworked embroidery, woven fillings, raised circular details and a scalloped lower edge.

Likely originally made for an altar cloth or another liturgical textile. A plain fabric strip is sewn along the upper edge to facilitate attachment.
