Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France or Belgium.
This set of 10 mock horn buttons, crafted from casein, measures 23mm in diameter. Their mock horn design features a stunning marbled pattern in rich brown tones, flowing from light to dark shades. These retro buttons have a smooth surface with a slightly translucent quality, mimicking the natural look of horn. Each button comes with a two-hole and their warm, organic aesthetic makes them perfect for adding vintage touch to jackets, blazers, or knitwear. Slight natural patina adds authenticity and enhances their retro appeal.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
