Introducing my retro buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France.

This vintage button set includes 4 mock horn buttons, combining warm cream and rich brown tones. The set features:

Two cream buttons with a thick rim and recessed area, measuring 29mm across. The design adds depth and texture, making them suitable for coats, cardigans, or statement pieces.
Two brown buttons with a shank back, measuring 32mm and 30mm. These have a smooth front with a natural mock horn pattern, ideal for structured garments like jackets or outerwear.

Crafted in the mid-20th century, these buttons showcase classic mock horn styling with subtle variations in pattern and color. They are sold as a set of four and have been lightly cleaned but remain in vintage condition, showing natural aging.

And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
