Introducing my vintage button collection – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, likely from France or Belgium in the 1950s.
This set includes 10 unique buttons, crafted from casein and featuring a bold, hand-painted design. The buttons come in three sizes (21 mm, 15 mm, and 14 mm) and have a domed shape that adds dimension and elegance. Each button showcases a vibrant red floral motif radiating from a blue or white center, giving them a playful yet sophisticated look.
In vintage fashion, "couture" buttons are those selected for high-end or custom-made garments, often associated with unique and intricate designs. These buttons fit that definition with their distinctive style, making them perfect for adding a design touch to blouses, dresses, or accessories. Their bright colors and domed shape make them equally suitable for vintage-inspired pieces or modern couture projects where details matter.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it?s a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
