Introducing my vintage buttons – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, most likely made in France.

This set of 10 retro buttons, measuring 23mm, showcases a striking rounded rim design with a recessed center. The buttons have a clean cream color, and some of them show slight patina and discolorations, as seen in the pictures, adding character and reflecting their authentic vintage nature. Made from casein, a milk-protein-based plastic popular in the mid-20th century, these galalith buttons are durable and versatile, ideal for adding a refined touch to coats, blazers, or heavy garments. And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it's a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
