Introducing my vintage button collection – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, likely from France or Belgium in the 1950s.
This is a set of 6 casein buttons, each design button features a lively green base adorned with an intricate floral design in bold red, yellow, and silver accents. Measuring 23 mm in diameter, shank back, the buttons have a raised flower motif that gives them a three-dimensional effect, making them stand out as statement pieces.
The unique combination of colours, raised floral design, and overall craftsmanship gives these buttons a couture quality. In vintage fashion, couture buttons are often chosen for their distinctive appearance and high-quality materials, making them suitable for one-of-a-kind garments. They are perfect for adding a touch to coats, jackets, or dresses. Their detailed floral design also makes them ideal for accessories like bags or hats, and they can even be used in decorative projects to add vintage charm.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it?s a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
