Introducing my vintage button collection – sourced from an old, unused stock of buttons and buckles, likely from France or Belgium in the 1950s.
This card includes 12 buttons, each 22 mm in diameter, likely made from casein. These black buttons have a glossy finish that adds to their refined appearance. They feature an intricate spiral pattern radiating from the center, creating a textured, three-dimensional effect that brings elegance to any project.
In the context of vintage buttons, "couture" often refers to buttons that were used for high-end fashion or custom-made garments, typically associated with designer quality. These Couture buttons reflect that high-fashion style and the distinctive shape suggest they were intended for stylish, custom-made garments, making them a great choice for both vintage-inspired and modern projects.
And what is casein? Casein, from which galalith buttons are made, is technically a type of plastic but with natural origins. It's derived from milk protein, so while it?s a manufactured material, it's not a synthetic plastic like acrylic or polyester. Casein is often classified as a semi-synthetic material, as it combines natural components with a chemical process to create the final product.
NOTE: please note that colours may slightly differ in reality due to variations in screen types and the effects of photography.
